Jake Paul's victory over Mike Tyson has once again made him the talk of the boxing world. Despite 'The Problem Child' not yet defeating a top-ranked, active boxer, speculation is rife about who he will face next. Paul comfortably defeated 'Iron Mike' in eight two-minute rounds, but fans and critics alike are hoping his next opponent will provide a greater challenge. There are several potential paths for Paul to take in 2025. The Ohio native has been smart in choosing opponents that benefit him most so far, but taking on a riskier fight could pay off next year. In line with Paul's strategy of pursuing lucrative fights, a match against Conor McGregor could be his best move. After all, it wouldn't be his first time defeating a UFC fighter, even if 'Notorious' hasn't fought in more than three-and-a-half years. Among Paul's previous MMA opponents are Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley (twice), Ben Askren and Mike Perry. However, a fight against arguably the most famous UFC fighter of all time would surpass the profile and potential earnings of all those victories combined, reports the Irish Star . It was back in December 2020 when Jake Paul made headlines by publicly calling out Conor McGregor with a whopping $50 million offer (£40m) for a bout. By then, the YouTuber had just a couple of wins under his belt and taunted McGregor about his single pro boxing match – a loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr by TKO. After triumphing over Ben Askren, Paul took to social media challenging the 36 year old McGregor to an MMA fight, stating: "Dear Conor, I know you told my team you would fight me at 170 pounds. That's never happening. But let's run it in MMA. No weight class. Just like how it used to be done. But you won't." Meanwhile, ahead of Paul's matchup with Tyson, McGregor didn't hide his loathing, hoping Mike would "rattle the little dope." Despite their differences - not least their nine-year age gap - it may well be that money will bridge the divide, potentially coaxing McGregor back into the ring. . And who could forget the singular blot on Paul's near-flawless 11-1 record? Tommy Fury edged out Paul with a split decision in their February 2023 showdown. For all the changes since their first fight, the animosity between the two seems as intense as ever. There are doubts whether a second fight with Tyson Fury's half-brother, Tommy, would be a wise move for Jake Paul in terms of its appeal. Nevertheless, Tommy Fury, readying himself for a bout against former UFC welterweight Darren Till in January, feels the rematch with Paul is certain. "In a heartbeat, yeah. I mean at the end of the day I think me and him, we're set in stone," he said during an interview with ESPN. "He's only got one defeat and that's to me, so it's inevitable that we are going to get back in the ring." Paul's ex-trainer BJ Flores had told The Sun that Fury was making "unreasonable" demands about the fight purse for another bout with Paul. However, if the financial aspects can be resolved, the opportunity for Paul to redeem his only loss in boxing could be on the table. As for a world title chance, if Paul decides to pursue a more challenging path than fighting retired athletes and former basketball stars, offers are already on the table. One such offer came from IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, who threw down the gauntlet on Instagram. Paul shared a DM from Dubois saying: "Hi Jake, good business on the weekend but how would you feel fighting for the legitimate heavyweight championship of the world this is Daniel Dubois calling you out. Let's get it on." Dubois, who recently knocked out Anthony Joshua, was told by his target to "get in line," although Paul did say he'd consider the offer. He seemed more open to this opportunity than the one he received from undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev, who also offered Paul a shot at his belts. "@JakePaul what can you do in the ring against the current undisputed champion. Just know I'm always open to any suggestions," Beterbiev wrote on Instagram. Paul responded that he "runs this sport" but has yet to accept or decline the challenge. If he truly wants to establish a lasting legacy in the sport, then defeating McGregor like Mayweather did, avenging his only career loss against Fury, and then taking on a reigning world champion would make 2025 a highly successful year for him.

Graffiti including 'Kill Israiel' (sic) was sprayed on buildings and footpaths in Woollahra, a suburb known for its Jewish community, in the early hours of Wednesday. A car, believed to be stolen, which the perpetrators drove to the scene was set on fire on Magney Street, NSW police said. Resources have been increased as officers follow all leads, Commissioner Karen Webb told reporters. "What happened last night is disgusting, and there's no place for hate of this nature in Sydney or anywhere in Australia," she said. Premier Chris Minns said it was a hate crime. "A violent act of destruction, clearly anti-Semitic, designed to strike fear into the community that lives in this part of Sydney," he told reporters. The perpetrators, believed to be two males of slim build, aged between 15 and 20, wore face coverings and dark clothing. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said it was an "anti-Semitic attack". "This isn't an attack on a government, this is an attack on people because they happen to be Jewish," he told ABC radio. "This is a hate crime, it's as simple as that." Mr Albanese said the perpetrators committed "abhorrent criminal behaviour". "This does not change anything that is occurring on the ground in the Middle East," he said. "This is an attack against their fellow Australians." Foreign Minister Penny Wong said acts of hate had no place in Australia and anti-Semitism was condemned wherever it occurred. "Australian Jewish communities have a right to be and feel safe," she said on social media. The attack comes after the Adass Israel Synagogue at Ripponlea in Melbourne's southeast was set alight in a pre-dawn attack on Friday while a number of people were inside. Australian Federal Police have set up a special operation in response to the "likely" act of terrorism, which will investigate threats, violence and hatred towards the Jewish community and parliamentarians. It will also investigate Wednesday's attack, the second recent incident in Woollahra after buildings and vehicles were targeted in November. A ute was set on fire, and multiple cars, a restaurant and other buildings were graffitied with anti-Israel messages. Two men are in custody, charged over that attack. Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-chief executive Alex Ryvchin said it was designed to terrorise Jewish Australians. The Seminoles (6-1) won their third consecutive game and went 2-0 in the event as they pulled away in the second half, leading by as many as 36 points. It's Florida State's best start since the 2019-20 season when it went 7-1. UMass (1-5) dropped its fifth in a row following a season-opening win over New Hampshire despite a strong game on Sunday from Jaylen Curry, who scored 17 points. Curry, with six free throws, helped propel the Minutemen on a 10-0 run over a four-plus minute span in the first half to take a 24-23 lead with 4:22 left. FSU closed the half on a 13-3 run to lead 37-27 at halftime. A 15-4 surge to open the second half helped the Seminoles break the game open. Florida State's defense frustrated UMass shooters throughout the contest, especially on the perimeter, limiting the Minutemen to 3-for-24 shooting (12.5 percent) from 3-point range and 18-for-58 (31 percent) overall. The Seminoles finished with 22 points off 17 UMass turnovers. On the flipside, Florida State had one of its best shooting games of the season. The Seminoles moved the ball well throughout the game and finished with 25 assists while only turning the ball over 10 times. The Seminoles shot 33 for 58 (57 percent) from the field and made 9 of 18 three-pointers to put together a season-high scoring output. The man charged in the killing of the CEO of UnitedHealthcare reported in online writings over a period of years that he had been navigating a series of life-altering health problems. In posts on a Reddit account, the man, Luigi Mangione , said back pain that had once been a minor issue in his life grew more extreme in 2022 after he went surfing, then grew worse again a few weeks later when he slipped on a piece of paper. He reported persistent problems, including pain when he sat down, twitching leg muscles, and numbness in his groin and bladder. Credit: AP He shared details that friends have corroborated, writing that he had a spinal fusion surgery in July 2023. He wrote that within days he did not need pain meds and could sit, stand and walk just fine. “The surgery wasn’t nearly as scary as I made it out to be in my head, and I knew it was the right decision within a week,” he wrote in one Reddit post. He went on to encourage others to consider such surgery, pointing to athletes who had done so. An X-ray that he posted on another social media account showed a spinal fusion. The back pain was not his only struggle. He wrote at times about “brain fog” that had worsened during his college years, making studying more difficult. Doctors could not seem to figure out what was happening, he reported. “It’s absolutely brutal to have such a life-halting issue,” he wrote. He also posted on a page for people dealing with irritable bowel syndrome, saying that he had undergone some testing for the condition. He said the testing had been covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield — his only reference in the Reddit writings to insurance coverage. After the back surgery, he returned to Hawaii, where he had previously been living, but by the spring of this year, he had ceased communications with most friends and family members. He was an active commenter in the OneBag subreddit, a community that “promotes urban travel with the philosophy of carrying less” and focuses on different types of backpacks and travel gear. Photos released by the New York Police Department of the assailant in the UnitedHealthcare shooting showed what its maker identified as a backpack by Peak Design, a brand that was widely discussed in the OneBag subreddit. The suspect also posted to the Magfest subreddit, a community dedicated to a gaming subculture and festival held annually in Maryland, where he grew up. Sarah Nehemiah, a friend during his time in Hawaii, described him as an avid gamer and Pokémon enthusiast. He posted enthusiastically to the Pokémon Go subreddit, a forum dedicated to the popular mobile augmented reality game in which users catch virtual Pokémon using their mobile phones. The Latest: UnitedHealthcare shooting suspect contests his extradition back to New YorkPHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George has a bone bruise on his left knee and will miss two games, the team said Thursday. The 76ers said George did not suffer any structural damage when he injured the same knee that he hyperextended during the preseason in Wednesday night's loss at Memphis. The game marked the first time this season the All-Star trio of George, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey started a game together. George will miss home games Friday against Brooklyn and Sunday against the Los Angeles Clippers, his former team. A nine-time All-Star, the 34-year-old George will be evaluated again on Monday. Wednesday's 117-111 loss to the Grizzlies dropped the Sixers to 2-12, the worst record in the NBA headed into Thursday night's games. George signed a four-year, $212 million contract with Philadelphia after five seasons with the Clippers. He has averaged 14.9 points in eight games this season. Embiid has been out with injuries, load management rest and a suspension, while Maxey was sidelined with a hamstring injury.
